Bethany's New Groove

Corey wanted me to start this post off by saying "Wake Up People! We need attention!" That's right we are feeling needy, lonely and depressed - were are all the comments? How sad is that? Here we are begging ya'll to comment, delurk, let us know you're here. Well actually I know ya'll are here, I have a stat counter, but we'd love to hear from you too.

Now the real reason for the post today. Bethany has developed her groove. She has always loved music, something she comes by naturally. There is music playing in our house All. The. Time. Although it may not be in tune and everyone else may not want to hear it, I'm either singing along to a tune, singing Beth to sleep or making up a song to make her laugh. When she was a wee tiny baby, Bethany loved Rascal Flatts "Life is a Highway", when in doubt, when the screams got too much we'd put that on, as loud as possible and all was right in the world.

As she's grown so has her taste in music. And while Rascal Flatts still makes her smile it's Will Smith and Usher that have taken a place in her heart now. At any given time I can turn "Switch" by Will Smith or "Yeah" by Usher on and not only does Bethany giggle and smile but she starts to dance. Probably the cutest of dances - just like the Emperor, she's got her new groove.

Here's just a sample of our future super star. Sorry for the poor quality on the videos I didn't have the camera set right.

Haha, thanks. I'd love to take credit for that one but it's actually at my parent's place. My dad built it and my mom decorated. Together they're quite the pair

Hi Ashely,

I just saw your question on Angella's site about signing with babies. Here is our little experience:

Our 3 year old didn't talk at all at the age of 18, 19 20 months. Only Mama and Dada. At that point we tried signing (we hadn't done it with our older one since he was a very early talker) and wha la he was talking within months. The signing helped him make the connection that he could tell us what he wanted a lot quicker than just crying until we finally guessed what he wanted.

I did a post about it here:

I highly recommend signing with your child. It's a lot of fun and very helpful to boot!

Just my humble opinion and thought I would share.
