K-Town Graduation

Last week today we were on the road, on the road to Kelowna. It had been a little over 6 months since we'd been back to K-town and the trip was long over due.  As we drove through the mountains we lamented at the changes that have taken place since the last time we went on through.  Not changes to the road or to the towns (although Merritt did get a Starbucks and that was cause for a flutter in my heart, Starbuck, sigh!), but more that the changes in our girls.

We took the kids back to our old beach.  The swing that Bethany is on is the very first swing she ever road in.

Bethany was full of questions and ideas - telling us about when she's going to climb to the top of the mountain to build a "toe-man" and throw "toe-balls".  Audrey just kept staring out the windows, barking at every cow we passed.   She's excellent at her animal noises but is used to black and white cows.  Since the majority of the ones we passed on the road to Kelowna were brown she thought they were very large dogs.  Honest mistake.

This trip was a chance for us to celebrate as a whole family.  Travis, Corey's younger brother graduated!  When I met Travis he was a little kid and while time has gone on and he's sprouted a few dozen inches, he's also grown into a great man.  He's sweet and kind with our kids, he loves his family and he's got courage (sometimes masked as insanity) coming out the ears.

I won't regail the weekend detail for detail but it was a lovely time.   We visited with Uncle Scott, Auntie Chelsea and Chloe, Grandma and Grandpa Kimmie, Grandpa Bert and stayed with Great Grandma and Grandpa Hobbs - always a treat.

The weekend went well, inspite of a stupidly bumpy "gravel road" (it was like boulder city and was bumpy enough that my jeans added a new bruise to my already black and blue belly) and fun was had by everyone, especially our girls.

Corey's Mom took the following two shots (thanks for emailing them Chelsea) and I of course played around a little to adjust the temperature and lighting.  I can't decide which of each I like better, let me know what you think!

I know posts around here have been few and far between but hang in there, next week holds more posting promise.  Tonight Corey and Bethany leave on their solo camping trip (gasp!) and I'm sure there will be stories and photos to share.  But for today, join me in Congratulating Travis on a job well done and tell me, what are you doing this weekend?

We'll be trying to stay dry. It's monsoon season here apparently :)

Congratulations to Travis and those are some great pictures! I can't pick, the colour and black and white are both great! Sorry, I am no help am I?

For the first picture choices, I pick the first one with the colour. For the second set, I pick the second, toned down picture. :-)
