5 Months!!

Bethany is 5 months old!!! I can't believe how quickly time flies. It seems like only yesterday I was waddling around complaining about the endless bathroom trips and continuous rib soccer games. We feel like Bethany has always been a part of our family and can't imagine life without her.

The changes we've seen in our girlie this past month are incredible. It seems each day brings something new. Of all the changes that have come about I'd have to say the laughter is my favorite. With each passing day it becomes easier and easier to coax the giggles and fits of laughter from her. There truely is no greater sound in the world than the sound of your baby's laughter. At least for now...I'm sure once she begins talking I will argue "Momma" is the greatest.

She has also reached another milestone, Bethany is rolling over and semi-sitting up. She can and likes to pull herself into a sitting position from semi-reclined. You can see her flex those little tummy muscles before she vaults herself forward into the upright position. She usually hangs there for around 15 seconds or so, her face full of pride at her accomplishment and then tumbles gracefully to one side or the other. Bethany has also discovered a love of tummy time. Maybe this is because she can see the world (ie. our living room floor) from a different vantage point or maybe it's because she has learned to roll from tummy to back. This new skill only came about a few days ago and I'm not sure who was more excited, Bethany or me. Anyone watching us that day would have wondered if I was possesed by a little leprichan the way I was clapping and jumping about the living room. I was thrilled,ok?

The biggest feat of all though comes in the form of runny, cream colored mush called rice cereal. On Sunday when she was just 5 months and 1 day Bethany took her first taste of "real food/people food". I use those terms lightly because if you've ever tasted the stuff you would agree it tastes only mildly better than cardboard. Combine that with the fact that it's mixed with formula and you can understand why she made the face she did. However, with each passing day she's enjoying her big girl food more and more. Today she actully grabbed for the spoon and willingly opened her mouth, it must grow on ya.

Those are only a few of the wonders of the past month. I could go on and on forever but wanted to save room for some much anticipated photos. I can only imagine what the next month will bring...

You could never look at that dear face and not feel happy. What a smile Girl! You are growing so fast, now you are eating... I bet your Daddy is counting down the days he can share a bowl of ice cream with you. I bet Mommy is counting down the days til she can share Raspberries with you. Crying here today at the thought of my baby girl having a dear baby. Wow.. Ashley you got me this time and you didn't even try. I am proud of the parents you and Bethany are. In her smile you can see a little girl who is full of the love Mommy and Daddy and Jesus gives her.
Love you all so much
