Harrison Hot Springs Sandcastles

A few weeks ago Corey and I decided to take a break from unpacking. Even though there were mounds of boxes, bags of packing paper and piles of stuff EVERYWHERE! We both decided that for our sanity and our daughter's that we'd better just have some fun. Something that when there is so much to be done quite often gets put on the back burner.

So there we sat, staring aimlessly at each other trying very hard to decide what would be fun. Go for a drive? Hmmm not so much that means Bethy is strapped in her seat forever - not fair. Can't go to a movie, again not fun for Beth or in reality anyone else in the dark theatre having to listen to "NANANA MAMAMA DAD!" She's become extremely vocal these days, it's fantastic. Get groceries? Again boring!!!!

Then it came to me, Harrison Hot Springs was having their annual International Sandcastle building competition. It's a fantastic event where sculpters come from around the world to construct these masterpieces. Corey's never seen them and they are something I enjoy looking at so we packed up the truck and Bethany and headed out. This competition is on until the middle of October and we could have definately picked a better day to go. It was fffffreeezing, but we bundled Bethy up and had a good time walking around and taking it all it. And of course getting to use the new camera yet again!

Daddy and his girl. Bethany was tucked in tight but decided that she'd try to climb out by diggin' her heals into Corey's belly. It didn't work but it sure was cute.

Corey'll even take this motorcycle. He'll figure out how to make it run.

This was a really neat twist on an old nursery rhymn.

This was one of our favorites.

Look at the detail in his face. It's almost as if they're going to start talking.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this one. Sand stuck anywhere?
